High Holidays 2020

  • High Holidays 2020 Registration
    We are pleased to tell you that we are planning on opening our doors and embracing (a social distance hug, if you will) every person that wishes to come. All are welcome, regardless of religious background, knowledge or level of observance.
     
    No Membership Required. Hebrew/English Prayer books. Heimish atmosphere. Expanded Sanctuary. Supervised Children’s Programs during specified Services.

    Please note: Due to Covid, The Chai Center’s High Holiday services will be very different compared to previous years. REMEMBER, things are very fluid. There may be some changes as the holidays approach.

    The following will be enforced:
        1. Masks must be worn at all times.
        2. Temperatures will be checked upon entry.
        3. There will be 3 different services to keep the attendance numbers in accordance with CDC guidelines.
        4. Registration is required for services this year, due to limited seating during each service.
        5. Services and sermon will be condensed. ( Click here for complete schedule)
        6. The sanctuary, bathrooms and lobby will be sanitized between services.
        7. Separate Prayer Books will be used for each Service. 

    About the schedule:
     
    Rosh Hashana
    The first Rosh Hashanah service will be 2.5 hours long and will be the full Shacharit service until Musaf. The service of Musaf itself, for those who wish to continue, will then be held either outside, weather permitting, or downstairs.
    The second Rosh Hashanah service will not be a full Shacharit and will only be 90 minutes. There will be though, for those who wish to continue, a Musaf though either outside, weather permitting, or downstairs.   
    The third Rosha Hashanah service will not be a full Shacharit and will only be 90 minutes.

    Shofar Blowing
    We will be holding TWO special SHOFAR BLOWING ONLY services, which will take place outdoors with social distancing.
    The first one at 5:00 PM on the Sunday of Rosh Hashana
    The second at 5:45 PM on the Sunday of Rosh Hashanah.

    Tashlich
    The traditional walk to the Tashlich lake (Chai Swamp) will leave  from the Chai Center at 6:00 PM. 

    Yom Kippur
    Yom Kippur for now will be two 3 hour services. Both services will be followed by Musaf in a separate location. The 11 AM Service will include a Special Children's Service at 12 PM. 

    Special Yizkor Service
    We will holding a special YIZKOR ONLY service at 2:30 PM, which will take place outdoors with social distancing.
