Welcome to The Chai Center Preschool!

My name is Paulyne Weiss and I am the Director of The Chai Center Preschool. I have been an early childhood educator for more than 20 years. During my career, I have worked in both school districts and private institutions. I spent 14 great years as a preschool teacher and an assistant administrator at a daycare center which helped broaden my knowledge of child development. I also have more than ten years of classroom teaching experience at both the preschool and elementary level as a dual certified New York State school teacher in general education and special education, birth through second grade. Additionally, I am certified by the Department of Health as an Early Intervention Provider, working with children identified with developmental delays and in need of support services. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology and childhood education from Queens College and went on to receive my master’s degree in early childhood education at The State University at Albany.

My husband and I have been members of our local synagogue for over 20 years, which is where our three sons also received their Jewish education. As a mom of three, as well as a teacher, I know the importance that early childhood education has on future success in school and in life. When my children were young it was important to me to ensure their earliest interactions were meaningful. Now, my experience as an administrator, as a parent and my belief in the importance of Jewish traditions and values have come together in a wonderful union here at The Chai Center Preschool.

My goal has always been to motivate students to find their inner strengths and abilities. Our curriculum, which uses the Reggio Emelia approach to learning, allows children to be children, respecting their uniqueness while supporting their individual learning styles. Children learn best when we embrace their natural curiosity. I have always tried to provide a stimulating environment that fosters confidence and encourages children to reach their full potential. The Chai Center is a place that truly sparks this creative process. I take great pride in knowing that our preschool program is one that strives for excellence and quality in childcare while promoting our cooperative spirit.
